UPDATE: I confronted him. He denied it at first. Then claimed he found it on the floor. I know he stole it out of my jacket. Then he finally admits via text to the whole family he has a gambling problem.
Today I have a suspicion that my step-dad stole and cashed a check that one of my customers gave me back in October.
Now I’m going to have to go to that customer and request that she shows me the check image so that I know for sure.
What makes me think he did it?
- He always cash his checks right away.
- I recently found a check that I hadn’t cashed and was going to confirm with my customer that it was okay to cash it before I did because it had been so long.
- Can’t find that check anymore. It was in my jacket pocket.
- He has stolen money from me before.
My chest hurts constantly because everyday it’s something new.
